Ministry Overview

Ministry in the 10/40 Window

Cambodia lies squarely in what is colloquially known as the “10/40 Window.” This is the area encompassing Asia, North Africa, and the Middle East between about 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude. While more than half the world’s population lives within this window, the majority of people living here are not Christian. Nearly 98% of the Khmer people are considered unreached, but our experience shows that Cambodia’s tragic history and present extreme poverty make people eager to look our God who offers them something greater.

❋ Biblical Significance

While the 10/40 Window makes up an area with great Biblical-historical significance–this is the main site of Biblical events–this is widely regarded by modern missionaries as the “Resistant Belt” today due to the lack of Christians and strong presence of other religions.

❋ Religious Makeup

According to the Joshua Project, nearly 85% of the Khmer people are Buddhist, with only 3% considered Christian. It is often the case in Cambodia that people have simply only been exposed to Buddhism. While this makes ministry in Cambodia extremely fruitful, in that many people accept Jesus when they hear the Gospel message, it is also vital that Christians continue to be present and spread the Good News in Cambodia to those who will otherwise never hear it.

❋ Our Goals

BFC hopes to provide ample opportunities for people to hear the Good News and expand God’s kingdom in Cambodia. We hope to provide ways out of poverty for those we serve, while telling each of these people that they are seen, loved, and saved by Christ.

❋ Our Plan

BFC understands the extreme degree of need in Cambodia, and thus we focus our ministry on education, teaching the minds and hearts of the Khmer people. We also believe in a relational ministry, where we serve our local community in Sisophon and Mouk Hurn to demonstrate God’s love and tell those we meet how He loves them.

Changing both hearts and minds to create Bright Futures.
